Flooding, potholes plague Queen Elizabeth II Hospital parking

KOTA KINABALU: Patients, visitors, and staff at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital (HQE II) continue to face difficulties due to frequent flooding and potholes in its main parking area.

Sabah Health Department director Dr Maria Suleiman acknowledged the issue and said discussions are underway with local leaders and stakeholders to find a solution.

"The parking area, owned by Qhazanah Sabah Berhad, has been loaned for public use and accommodates around 300 vehicles as an alternative due to limited hospital parking.

"However, recent unpredictable weather has led to water pooling and potholes, affecting users. The department and the hospital are aware of these challenges and are working towards improvements," she said in a statement on Sunday (March 9).

Dr Maria said potential expansion and repair efforts are being considered to enhance accessibility for all users.

"The department welcomes cooperation from all parties, including local leaders and authorities, to find the best solution for the well-being of patients and hospital users.

"We appreciate the public’s patience and support and welcome cooperation from local leaders and authorities in addressing this issue," she said.
