PETALING JAYA: Families of the two Malaysian students from Selangor in Jordan will be given help by the Selangor state government, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
The Selangor Mentri Besar gave this assurance after learning that the two female students were among four others who were injured in a road accident in Jordan on Friday (March 7).
"The two female students from Selangor were Sumayya Azamuddin and Fatimah Nuha Mustaza.
"Sumayya was said to have suffered light injuries while Fatimah was reported to have suffered serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday. (Feb 9)
Amirudin said that his office had since contacted the family and next-of-kin of the students concerned and will continue to monitor their situation.
"God willing, the state government is ready to extend aid to the affected families.
"Let us pray that these students will recover well, and all matters will be handled smoothly," he added.
On Friday, the two female students, together with two others from Johor, Muhammad Zakwan Azhar Masjudin and Muhammad Ilham Dzurllkanian@Zulkarnian were travelling in car when the accident happened.
The four are in their first year of studies at the Mu'tah University in Jordan.
