PMO briefing vital platform, does not overlap, says senior press secretary

PETALING JAYA: The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Daily Briefing is a vital platform for providing daily updates on the Prime Minister’s activities and directives, says the Prime Minister’s senior press secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah.

Addressing concerns about potential duplication with the government spokesperson's role, Tunku Nashrul clarified that the PMO Daily Briefing focuses on real-time updates related to the Prime Minister’s engagements, decisions, and instructions to ministries and agencies.

"The PMO Daily Briefing is not a replacement for the government spokesperson but complements and strengthens the communication structure of the Madani government," he said in a statement released on Monday (March 3) at 11am on the Facebook accounts of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the PMO.

"Meanwhile, Fahmi Fadzil, as the government spokesperson, is responsible for communicating policy explanations and decisions made in Cabinet meetings to the public.

"With a more comprehensive communication strategy, the government can ensure that the public receives accurate information while swiftly countering slander and misinformation," he added.

Tunku Nashrul also said the Prime Minister acknowledged the issue of local white rice and has instructed the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to expedite efforts to restore the supply of local white rice in the market.

"This recovery process is currently being carried out in phases. The Prime Minister has also directed the relevant ministries to provide continuous updates to the public regarding the progress of this supply recovery," Tunku Nashrul said.
