Live daily briefings begin

PM’s Office updating the public twice a day to combat fake news

PETALING JAYA: To ensure Malaysians obtain accurate government information and to curb the spread of fake news, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has introduced a daily briefing, which will be published across social media platforms.

According to PMO, the briefing is shared on the Facebook accounts of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and PMO at 11am and 5pm.

The PMO said the Prime Minister’s senior press secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah has been tasked with delivering the briefing.

In a video posted on Anwar’s X account yesterday, Tunku Nashrul said the main objective of the briefing was to ensure Malaysians receive accurate information from official sources, including PMO.

“Through this briefing, PMO will explain current issues, important policies and the latest developments to keep the public informed.

“This is an important step to curb the spread of slander and fake information that is confusing the society,” said Tunku Nashrul.

He added that, as the fasting month begins, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit several ministries to meet with civil servants.

During these visits, he will conduct knowledge-sharing sessions featuring guest speakers.

“Through these programmes, values such as honesty, discipline and responsibility will be fostered among civil servants, which is in line with the prosperity pillar of the Madani framework,” he said.

Tunku Nashrul also announced that Anwar will hold the Ihya’ Ramadan programme across ministries throughout the holy month.

The programme aims to make Ramadan a spiritual madrasah, not only in terms of worship but also in promoting values and ethics in national administration.

Additionally, Tunku Nashrul said the Prime Minister has agreed to visit several states during the fasting month to strengthen cooperation between the federal and state governments.

“Further details on the dates and locations of these events will be announced soon through official government channels.”

Tunku Nashrul also said PMO encourages all Malaysians to participate in these events as a sign of togetherness and unity.

“PMO believes that clear communication, transparency in administration, and the strengthening of spiritual values are important elements in building trust between the government and the people,” he said.

“Let us make this Ramadan a month of reform in communication, administration and life,” added Tunku Nashrul.
