SEREMBAN: Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for the Rantau seat in the recent state election has been charged along his wife for opening an unlicensed medical clinic.
Dr Azizul Hakim Mahdi and Noor Ameeraa Rahmat, both 35, both pleaded not guilty before Sessions Cout judge Shahrul Rizal Majid here yesterday.
According to the first charge, the company was found to have operated a private medical clinic without registration, in violation of Section 27 of the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998.
According to a Sinar Harian report, the company was charged under Section 4(1), which carries a maximum fine of RM500,000 upon conviction. In the second charge, the couple, acting as company directors, were accused of jointly operating an unregistered medical clinic, an offence under Section 27 of the same Act.
The offences were allegedly committed at premises in Taman Bandar Senawang here on July 8, with the next mention date fixed for Sept 17.
At the 16th Negri Sembilan election, Dr Azizul Hakim lost to Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan by a 12,018-vote margin in a straight fight.
