SEREMBAN: PKR members must update their memberships by March 21 to be eligible to vote in the upcoming divisional and central leadership polls, according to Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
The PKR vice-president urged those who have not yet done so to avoid waiting until the last minute if they wish to vote.
The party has over one million members.
"The central leadership has directed all members who have not updated and activated their membership to do so by March 21 to be eligible to vote on polling day," he said.
"It is my hope that those who have yet to pay their membership fee will do so quickly and not wait till the last minute," he added, noting that divisional and branch leaders have already started reminding members.
Aminuddin highlighted the importance of updating memberships as members below 60 years of age will vote online.
Those above 60 will have the option to vote online or in person.
He mentioned that members who have not updated their memberships can do so via their handphones.
On Jan 26, PKR secretary-general Dr Fuziah Salleh confirmed that party elections will be held on May 24, with contests open for all posts on the Supreme Council, Women’s wing, and the Youth wing for the 2025-2028 term.
Divisional elections will be held in April.
Asked if he would defend his vice-presidency, Aminuddin, who is also the Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar, said he had yet to decide.
"I will make an announcement when the time is right," he said.
The other party vice-presidents are Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang, and Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
Recently, Amirudin confirmed he will contest in the party polls but did not specify which position. Chang and Nik Nazmi said they will announce their intentions in due course.
In the last party polls, Amirudin received the most votes with 52,845, followed by Chang (41,209 votes), Nik Nazmi (40,506 votes), and Aminuddin (38,894 votes).
