Marsha Milan finally makes her mark in the industry

FRESH from her victory at the 39th Anugerah Juara Lagu with Hening Rindu, Marsha Milan (pic) has finally stamped her mark.

Having spent two decades in the industry, the 40-year-old singer who hails from Tuaran, Sabah, has long harboured big dreams and many said she deserved the win, Harian Metro reported.

Marsha recently released Lintah Darat, a duet with her close friend from Sabah, Velvet Aduk, 38.

Although it is not their first collaboration, Marsha and Velvet said Lintah Darat was unique and rich with instrumental and rhythmic elements that reflect Sabah’s cultural identity.

“I never imagined my dream of a Borneo-themed album would finally come true. To top it off, I had the opportunity to duet with Velvet again.

“This modern folk track is fresh and authentic, marking our ‘comeback’ after a few quiet years,” said Marsha.

Velvet shared that Lintah Darat was inspired by Marsha’s vision of creating a Sabahan song that resonates with listeners.

The track delivers a sharp critique of manipulative individuals who exploit others’ kindness, only to face downfall when there’s nothing left to take.

With its bold lyrics and nostalgic poco-poco dance rhythm, Lintah Darat is both entertaining and a cautionary tale against greed and hypocrisy.

> Singer Datuk Nora Ariffin has shocked many by openly announcing her intention to divorce her husband, Dr Rushdi Ramli, Berita Harian reported.

In an Instagram post, Nora, whose real name is Wan Norafizah Wan Ariffin, 52, claimed that the decision was made in response to her stepdaughter’s long-standing request for them to separate.

The Renungan Terakhir singer hopes the move will end the negative remarks and accusations directed at her on social media.

“I apologise for accepting the proposal and legally marrying Ustaz Rushdi.

“After being pressured to get a divorce, he reconciled with me.

“I regret my decision and will fulfil Aya’s request for us to part ways. God willing, Ustazah Rose (first wife) will return to monogamy, as she wishes,” she wrote.

The Kelantan-born singer also hinted at taking legal action against those spreading false accusations.

“This has been going on since 2019, and I never responded. But now, the damage is done. Let the law decide,” she added.

Nora and Rushdi got married in 2021. Rushdi was a close friend of her late husband, Johan Nawawi, who passed away in 2017.
