Two arrested with heroin after police chase causes four-vehicle pile-up on Jalan Kuching

KUALA LUMPUR: A four-vehicle pile-up occurred after a police chase along Jalan Kuching.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the incident occurred on June 26 after Wangsa Maju police detected a suspicious car in the Wangsa Maju area.

"The driver and a passenger were believed to have refused to stop the vehicle when ordered to do so by police. A pursuit then took place from Wangsa Maju to Jalan Kuching.

"At the scene of the incident, the driver of the vehicle weaved the car between the left and right lanes before losing control," he said.

"As a result of the incident, the suspects' vehicle crashed into three other vehicles that had stopped due to traffic congestion," he said.

The resulting crash led to damages on all vehicles but no injuries were reported.

"Both suspects aged 40 and 42 years old were successfully arrested at the scene. A search uncovered suspected heroin weighing 19.63g," he said.

The traffic accident case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The drug possession case will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
