Two die after sports car crashes into divider on Duke expressway

KUALA LUMPUR: A fatal accident killed two people after a sports car crashed into a road divider along the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said investigations led police to believe the car was driven at speed before the driver lost control.

The collision also caused the car to catch fire.

"The accident involved a sports car driven by a 22-year-old local male, who was a student at the University of Brisbane in Australia. Also inside the vehicle were a 21-year-old local student and a 20-year-old Singaporean," he said.

The resulting crash injured the lone survivor, who was in the back seat of the car.

"Investigations at the scene of the accident have been conducted and we have requested CCTV footage of the surrounding area. We have also carried out preliminary questioning," he said.
