Security guard fined RM500 for scolding cop

KULAI: A security guard has been fined RM500 by the Magistrate’s Court here for scolding an officer at the Kulai district police headquarters.

KR Pathma Seelan (pic), 22, pleaded guilty in front of magistrate R. Salini after the charge was read out to him here yesterday.

According to the charge sheet, the accused was acting rowdy and raising his voice at the officer within the district police headquarters at around 7.10pm on Monday.

He was charged under Section 90 of the Police Act and can be sentenced under Section 94 of the same Act, which carries a fine of not more than RM500 or imprisonment of not more than six months, or both, upon conviction.

During his plea, Pathma Seelan, who is a bachelor, told Salini that he was earning a monthly salary of RM1,200 as a security guard and was looking after his mother.

Pathma Seelan paid the fine.

Meanwhile, Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the three other suspects that were arrested together with the accused have since been released.
