KOTA KINABALU: The construction of two new district police headquarters in Nabawan and Kalabakan will significantly strengthen border security and enable a faster response to cross-border threats, says Datuk Jauteh Dikun.

The Sabah Police Commissioner said the new police headquarters, expected to be completed by 2029, would enhance police presence along Sabah’s borders, allowing quicker action on security issues involving foreign nationals.

"Setting up these police headquarters is crucial as they will be located at our borders with neighbouring countries.

"This will boost our manpower and allow us to respond swiftly to any border-related incidents," he told reporters after paying a courtesy visit to Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman on Tuesday (Feb 18).

The visit at Istana Seri Kinabalu was to brief Musa on the police’s plans to enhance border security and other policing efforts in Sabah.

Meanwhile, Musa urged police to take aggressive and consistent action, particularly in tackling drug-related crimes in the state.

Also present during the visit were Sabah General Operations Force Brigade Commander Senior Asst Comm Datuk Abdul Rani Alias, the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Azhar Hamin and the Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Azmi Abdul Rahim.
