Government finalising key parameters for HSR project

KUALA LUMPUR: The government is finalising key parameters for the proposed Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR KL-SG) project, led by the private sector.

According to the Ministry of Transport, these parameters will be presented to the Cabinet for approval.

"Details regarding the shortlisted consortium, financing methods and project model study will be reviewed in the next phase, which is the 'Request For Proposal' (RFP) process," added the ministry in a written response in the Dewan Rakyat, published on Parliament's website on Tuesday (Feb 18).

This response was to answer a question from Muhammad Islahuddin Abas (Perikatan-Mersing) dated Feb 17 about the current status of the HSR KL-SG project following Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd's decision to withdraw from the consortium led by Berjaya Rail Sdn Bhd.

The Mersing MP also asked about details of the shortlisted consortium, financing methods and the study of the new project model.

The Ministry of Transport clarified that MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd (MyHSR Corp) has evaluated seven concept proposals received from local and international firms and consortiums through the Request For Information (RFI) process.
