KUALA LUMPUR: Suara Rakyat Malaysia (Suaram) executive director Sevan Doraisamy was never arrested, says the police.
When contacted on Wednesday (Feb 12), Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm Aidi Sham Mohamed confirmed the matter and said the police only recorded Sevan’s statement at the Putrajaya district police headquarters.
"It was only to record his statement. There was no arrest.
"Investigations are being conducted under Section 7 of the Protected Areas and Protected Places Act 1959," he said.
Earlier, Suaram sent the media a video showing Sevan's detention.
He was seen speaking to a police officer before being asked to enter a police car.
According to the police, Sevan had his statement recorded following allegations that he had entered the Home Ministry here on Monday (Feb 10) without a pass.
