Setia Alam shooting: NCID to work with CID, S'gor cops, says Comm Khaw

KUALA LUMPUR: The Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) will work with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in investigating the recent shooting incident at a mall in Setia Alam.

NCID director Comm Datuk Seri Khaw Kok Chin said the two departments will collaborate with Selangor police following the discovery that the suspect, in his 30s, had a criminal record with 11 prior criminal and drug related offences.

"We cannot confirm yet whether the suspect was under the influence of drugs when the incident occurred.

"We will assist Selangor police and the CID in completing the investigation.

"However, we need to arrest him first to confirm whether he was actually high during the incident," he told a press conference in Bukit Aman on Monday (Feb 10).

In the context of cooperation in the investigation, Comm Khaw said the NCID will assist in identifying the associates of the suspect.

"Various other intelligence along with identifying his friends and acquaintances will make tracking the suspect down easier," he added.

It was reported that the shooter at the mall incident has been identified by Selangor police.

During the incident, a foreign man, who works as a cleaner, was hurt after he was shot in the leg and buttock.

The situation at the mall was chaotic following the shooting incident on Saturday (Feb 8) night.

However, the police have deemed the mall safe and allowed it to operate normally on Sunday.
