KUALA LUMPUR: The two Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Alor Gajah students reported missing have been reunited with their families after being found at Central Market here, with both undergoing further medical examinations at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL).
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the two 16-year-old students were taken to HKL for further health checks after they were found by Alor Gajah police at about 10.30pm on Friday (Aug 14).
“After being found, both students were taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for further medical examinations before being handed over to their families.
“The cause and circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 15).
The students, Siti Nur Aaira Aidi and Nur Aisy Humaira Mohd Saad, had earlier sought treatment at a nearby health clinic after reportedly feeling unwell.
Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar had previously said one of the students claimed she had fainted at their last known location.
“However, we will wait for a medical report from Hospital Kuala Lumpur to verify the claim,” he said on Saturday.
Police first received a missing persons report from one of the students’ teachers at 10.46pm on Tuesday (Aug 11).
Mara chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki had earlier expressed relief over their safe discovery in a social media post, after previously appealing to the public for prayers and information regarding their whereabouts.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the students’ disappearance.
