Loanshark runner charged for splashing red paint on multiple houses, cars


JOHOR BARU: A runner for a loanshark has been charged at two Magistrate’s Courts here with three counts of splashing red paint on two different houses and two cars.

The accused, Rianovent Teo Chin Xi, 30, who works as a cook, was charged on Friday (Feb 7).

In the first court, Teo claimed trial in front of Magistrate Hidayatul Syuhada Shamsudin for his first two charges of splashing red paint on two different houses.

In the first charge, he allegedly splashed red paint on a house along Jalan Padi Emas at Bandar Baru Uda here at 6am on Jan 10 this year causing RM57 in damages to the owner.

In the second charge, Teo was accused of splashing red paint on a house in Taman Johor Jaya here at around 8am on Jan 25 causing RM60 in damages.

He had committed an offence and was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum five-year imprisonment, a fine or both upon conviction.

Hidayatul Syuhada then slapped a bail amount of RM10,000 with one surety for the two offences against Teo and also set March 21 for the next mention pending handing over of documents.

In a separate Magistrate Court, Teo pleaded guilty in front of Magistrate Nur Fatin Mohamad Farid for splashing red paint on two cars.

According to the charge sheet, he committed the offence along Jalan Camar 8 in Taman Perling here at around 5pm on Jan 26 causing RM500 in damages to the vehicles’ owner.

He was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of five years imprisonment or a fine or both upon conviction.

Nur Fatin then fined him RM3,500 or 12 months imprisonment in default.

Deputy public prosecutors R. Nevina and Nik Noratini Nik Azman prosecuted the cases respectively while lawyer Kenji Soh Xin Da represented Teo.
