The suspect was arrested at about 10am on Saturday (Feb 1) in front of a clinic in Kota Warisan after a police report was lodged by the victim’s younger sister, he added.

The complainant said the assaulted woman was her 35-year-old elder sister, while the alleged perpetrator was the latter’s husband, in his 50s.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act 1994.

In a 29-second video that went viral, a woman is seen walking out of a shopping centre carrying a plastic bag before a man approaches and slaps her.
