Arifin Arif lodges police report over bribery allegations

KOTA KINABALU: State minister Datuk Mohd Arifin Arif has lodged a report against a news portal that alleged that he has attempted to bribe a whistleblower.

“I will take legal action against those who slander and act as an accomplice,” he said.

Arifin, who lodged the report at the Kota Kinabalu police headquarters in Kepayan on Wednesday night (Feb 5), said the claim was “an outright lie with malicious intention”.

He said no one from the offending news portal contacted him to get his side of the story and verify anything before releasing their article.

In the online report, Arifin was accused of offering bribes to stop a whistleblower from releasing information allegedly in connection with graft claims linked to the issuance of state mining licences.
