KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional will never be swayed by calls to remove any of its core component parties from the coalition, including MCA, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic).
"MCA is one of the core component parties (of Barisan) alongside MIC and PBRS as well as other Friends of BN's parties.
"We're adamant and firm in making sure Barisan's core component parties remain and will never be influenced by any calls to remove any of them," the Barisan chairman said on Tuesday (Feb 4).
Previously, a Chinese daily reported that MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong had revealed that certain “outsiders” have suggested that Umno expel MCA from Barisan.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Umno president, downplayed the claim, saying that there has never been any talks to remove MCA from Barisan.
"Those people who suggested (the removal of MCA) are just daydreamers," he told reporters at the Parliament.
