164,612 passengers utilise ferry services during school holidays


ALOR SETAR: A total of 164,612 passengers utilised the ferry services on the Kuala Kedah-Langkawi-Kuala Perlis route during the recent school holidays and Chinese New Year celebrations.

According to Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd Konsortium operations manager Lieutenant-Commander (Rtd) Norhafiz Abdul Wahid, this figure represents the total number of passengers recorded from Jan 16 to Feb 2.

"On the Langkawi to Kuala Kedah route, 31,117 passengers were served, while 33,708 passengers travelled from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi,” Norhafiz said in a statement on Monday (Feb 3).

"On the Langkawi to Kuala Perlis route, a total of 48,784 passengers utilised the service, while 51,003 passengers made the journey from Kuala Perlis to Langkawi.

During the same period, 49 additional ferry trips were made. This included eight extra trips each on the Langkawi to Kuala Kedah and Kuala Kedah to Langkawi routes.

"For the Langkawi to Kuala Perlis route, 17 additional trips were scheduled, while the Kuala Perlis to Langkawi route saw 16 more trips," Norhafiz said. - Bernama
