Pillion rider dies in motorcycle accident in Johor Baru


JOHOR BARU: A 21-year-old pillion rider was killed after falling off a motorcycle at Jalan Pintasan Persiaran Seri Alam.

Seri Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Sohaimi Ishak reported that the incident occurred on Thursday (Jan 30) at 4.30am.

"A 21-year-old man was riding a motorcycle with a pillion passenger of the same age, while another 21-year-old man was riding another motorcycle," he said.

The three were heading home to Taman Nusa Damai after dinner when the first rider lost control and collided with the second motorcycle causing all involved to fall onto the road.

ACP Mohd Sohaimi added that the pillion rider sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other victims suffered minor injuries and were taken to Sultan Ismail Hospital for treatment.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police have urged road users to exercise caution, follow traffic regulations, and remain vigilant while driving.
