Ranau hit by weak earthquake


KOTA KINABALU: A weak earthquake with a magnitude of 2.9 on the Richter scale was detected in Ranau at 3.16pm on Wednesday (Jan 29).

The Malaysian Meteorology Department, in a statement on Facebook, said the epicentre of the quake, at a depth of 4km, was 11km West of Ranau and the tremor could be felt in Ranau and the surrounding area.

The department will continue to monitor the situation, read the statement.
