Danger-level continuous rain warning for eight areas in Sarawak


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of continuous rain in Sabah and Sarawak until Friday.

In a statement on Wednesday (Jan 29), it said several areas in Sarawak that are likely to be affected by heavy rain at a danger level until Friday are Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sarikei (Meradong), Sibu (Sibu & Selangau), Mukah, Bintulu (Tatau & Bintulu) and Miri (Subis).

Continues rain at severe levels is also expected at Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan, Sarikei & Julau), Sibu (Kanowit), Kapit (Song & Kapit), Bintulu (Sebauh) and Miri (Beluru, Miri & Marudi) until Friday (Jan 31).

In Sabah areas like the west coast of Sabah (Ranau& Kota Belud), Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran & Sandakan) and Kudat are also expected to experience continued rain at severe levels.

Other places in Sabah such as Pedalaman (Keningau & Tambunan), Pantai Barat (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu & Tuaran), Tawau (Lahad Datu) and Sandakan (Tongod) are expected to experience continuous rain at an alert level until Friday.
