Sabah will continue phase two of development plans if given fresh mandate, says Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government will continue the second phase of its development plans under Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) if it receives a fresh mandate in the upcoming state election, expected before October 2025.

Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor said that 2025 marks the final year of the Sabah Maju Jaya 1.0 Development Plan (2021-25).

"If given the mandate (in the coming election due before Sept 2025), we will continue with the SMJ 2.0 roadmap from 2026 to 2030," he said in his Chinese New Year 2025 message statement here on Monday (Jan 27).

Hajiji also acknowledged the Chinese community's continued support of the state's development.

"As Chief Minister, I assure you that the well-being of the people, including the Chinese community, will remain a priority.

"May this year bring rays of hope, strength, happiness, and good health while ushering in greater prosperity.

"We are grateful that Malaysians in Sabah, especially those of Chinese descent, will celebrate the Chinese New Year this year, the Year of the Snake, in an atmosphere of peace, harmony, and joy," he said.
