KOTA KINABALU: Rather than aiming for the stars, the Sabah Government should focus on pressing earthly issues, such as ensuring there is enough water for the people, says Kota Kinabalu Parti Warisan information chief Samuel Wong (pic).
Slamming the state government’s plans to pursue space exploration and artificial intelligence (AI), Wong argued that securing access to clean water and addressing essential services are more urgent.
He described the government’s approach as misguided and disconnected from the people’s immediate needs.
“It is inappropriate for the government to pursue such ambitious projects while the people continue to struggle with basic necessities like water, electricity and roads,” Wong said.
He claimed that the water crisis has worsened recently, with many areas across Sabah severely affected.
Wong pointed out that, in the city alone, well-known shopping malls have had to take drastic measures to cope with the situation.
“If even high-profile locations such as shopping malls, hotels, and condominiums are facing problems, what about ordinary Sabahans in rural areas?” Wong asked.
Wong has urged the state government, particularly the Sabah State Water Department, to take immediate action to address the ongoing crisis.
