JB cops yet to hear from woman claiming she was almost kidnapped at mall


JOHOR BARU: Police are investigating a woman's claim that she was almost kidnapped at a popular shopping mall here.

This come after the woman claimed on social media that she was approached by a man and a woman allegedly trying to promote some products.

She claimed that the two people pressured her to smell some tea leaves in a jar which made her feel dizzy and weak.

The woman then claimed that the female would-be kidnapper then took her bag while the man dragged her away claiming that she was his wife.

However, the woman shouted saying she did not know the man, which alerted passers-by.

This caused the two individuals to push her to the ground before fleeing.

The woman claimed that she hit her head and was hospitalised for three days and the doctor told her she could have smelled something similar to an anaesthetic.

She also alleged that the doctor told her that she was not the first to experience such an incident where she claimed to have lodged a police report over the matter.

However, Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said that no police report has been lodged relating to such an incident so far.

“The woman made claims in the video that when she went shopping near the mall at Taman Abad here and that she was almost abducted after being approached by two individuals.

“However, checks found that no report has been lodged pertaining to the case and police are in the midst of identifying the individuals and witnesses involved in the matter,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 21) night.

ACP Raub urged the public not to share such videos on social media to avoid misunderstanding or create speculation that could threaten public safety.
