Woman killed, children wounded in two-vehicle collision in Batu Pahat

BATU PAHAT: A 36-year-old woman was killed in a car accident at KM34.5 Jalan Kluang and Jalan Taman Bahagia here on Sunday (Jan 19).

The 11pm tragedy occurred when a car driven by a 40-year-old man travelling from Ayer Hitam towards Kluang collided with another car exiting a junction at the intersection at KM34.5.

The deceased, identified as Adibah Razali, residing in Taman Berjaya, Yong Peng, died in the second vehicle, while her two children, aged 10 years and eight months respectively, suffered head and shoulder injuries.

They were driven by the victim’s brother-in-law, an Indonesian, and his wife, both aged 48, said Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani in a statement here on Monday (Jan 20)

He said that the collision resulted in the driver and all passengers in the second car being trapped and later rescued by the Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Department.

“The driver sustained head and leg injuries, while his wife sustained neck, shoulder, and internal organ injuries,” he said, adding that the driver of the other vehicle sustained hand and thigh injuries.

All the injured were treated in the Yellow Zone of Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI), Batu Pahat.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
