Thunderstorm warnings issued for six states including Selangor and Johor


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds have been forecast for most parts of Malaysia, including Pahang and Johor.

In an advisory issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) at 2.15pm on Tuesday (Jan 14), thunderstorms are expected over Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Johor, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.

Also affected are Perak (Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Pahang (Rompin), Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor and Klang) as well as Johor (Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Baru).

Also seeing rains are Sarawak: Miri (Marudi) and Limbang and Sabah: Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Keningau) and West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran).

The advisory is until 6pm today.

The Northeast Monsoon phase is expected to continue until March 2025.
