Thunderstorm warning issued for Sarawak and Sabah


PETALING JAYA: A thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Sarawak and Sabah, with heavy rain and strong winds expected.

The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) released the warning at 3.40pm on Monday (Jan 13).

In Sarawak, areas expected to be affected include Kuching (Kuching), Samarahan, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu (Sibu), Mukah, Miri (Telang Usan) and Limbang.

In Sabah, the warning covers the Interior regions (Sipitang, Tenom and Nabawan), Tawau (Tawau) and Sandakan (Kinabatangan and Sandakan) until 6pm on Monday.

The alert is issued when signs indicate thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour, either imminent or expected to last more than an hour.
