KJ to be questioned by police over royal addendum comments

KUALA LUMPUR: Police will be recording Khairy Jamaluddin's statement in connection with his comments on the royal addendum about Datuk Seri Najib Razak's house arrest.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said two police reports were lodged against the former health minister last Friday (Jan 10) and the police have opened an investigation on the issue.

"The complainant claimed to have read a story from a news portal, which said Khairy alleged that Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said was complicit in hiding the royal addendum.

"The complainant said the news was not true and it has tarnished Azalina's reputation," he said when contacted on Monday (Jan 13).

The IGP said the Bukit Aman CID's Special Investigation Unit (USJT) will be recording Khairy's statement at his office in Jalan Setia Bakti, Bukit Damansara on Monday.

"We are investigating under Section 500 Penal Code for defamation and Section 233 of the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.

"We will investigate the matter further," he said.

On Jan 10, Azalina's political secretary Datuk Suraya Yaacob lodged a police report against Khairy at Sentul police station.

Earlier, through his "Keluar Sekejap" podcast, Khairy claimed there was a crisis of confidence towards his former party Umno following the royal addendum involving former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Khairy also claimed that Azalina was complicit in hiding the additional documents that would have enabled Najib to undergo house arrest.
