Avoid subjudice on addendum decree issue, leave it to the court, says Azalina

SHAH ALAM: All parties, especially Umno members, are urged to refrain from speculating on Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's royal addendum due to concerns about subjudice.

Umno Information Chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said (pic) stated that the matter should be referred back to the High Court following the Court of Appeal's decision on Monday (Jan 13).

According to Sinar Harian, Azalina, who is also the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform), emphasised that the most crucial aspect is the element of the Court of Appeal acknowledging the existence of the royal addendum.

"On Jan 13, the High Court will set the trial date, and I urge everyone not to speculate since the court now plays the role of making determinations.

"We don't want the issue of sub judice, meaning that once it becomes a court case, there are many comments, which I feel are unfair to all parties," she said.

However, she stressed that the element of the royal addendum's existence is not related to its legality.

"This isn't about legality; it's just an issue of existence. Legality is a separate issue involving legal matters... but this is an issue of existence, and all parties involved in this process, I believe, will be called by the court.

"So, I want to ask party members to let the court make a decision after all the facts are received by the court from all parties," she added.
