Umno ministers ready to cooperate with High Court over addendum order, says sec-gen

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno ministers will give their cooperation to the High Court on the Addendum Order, if necessary, says Datuk Seri Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

“Umno is confident that the High Court will act independently and fairly to assess the legality of the existence of the Addendum Order.

“Ministers representing Umno are also ready to cooperate with the High Court in the future if needed to give their statements,” said the party’s secretary-general on Friday (Jan 10) night.

He also said that, following the supreme council meeting, Umno would continue to seek for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s courtesy and approval for a full pardon for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“The party will continue to seek the courtesy and approval of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to grant a full pardon to Najib, in accordance with the prerogative powers under Article 42 (1) and (2) the Federal Constitution,” he said.

He added that the party also expressed its gratitude at the recent Court of Appeal decision to allow the former premier to initiate a judicial review over the sentence imposed on him in the SRC International Sdn Bhd trial.

“Umno, as the only party with defending the institution of the Malay Rulers enshrined in its constitution, will always place the highest priority and respect for His Majesty the King,” Asyraf Wajdi said.
