Number of flood victims rises to 2,524 in Johor


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Johor has risen to 2,524 people from 722 families and is expected to continue rising.

The Johor disaster management committee said that Johor Baru has become the latest affected district, making the total number of districts affected by the flood to five.

“As of 8pm on Saturday (Jan 11), there are 33 temporary relief centres in operation, housing 2,524 people from five districts,” it said in a statement.

The number of flood victims in Kota Tinggi is 1,093, followed by Kulai with 675 people, Kluang with 354 people, Pontian with 254 people, and Johor Baru with 148 people.

The relief centre with the highest number of flood victims is SJKC Batu, which houses 247 people from Kampung Melayu Bukit Batu.
