Flood situation worsens in Johor as more districts affected


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Johor continues to rise, with three more districts affected by flooding due to ongoing heavy rain.

According to the Johor disaster management committee, as of noon on Saturday (Jan 11), Kota Tinggi remains the district with the highest number of victims, followed by Kluang, Pontian, and Kulai.

"Only one temporary relief centre (PPS) has been opened in Kulai at Dewanraya Kampung Sengkang as we are still in the process of moving the people out.

"In general, there are 1,156 people from 366 families being placed at 18 PPS in the four flood-affected districts," the committee stated on Saturday (Jan 11).

The number of flood victims in Kota Tinggi is 1,082, followed by Kluang with 45, and Pontian with 29.
