Sweet gesture: BSI Immigration treats Singapore ICA to cake for New Year’s Day

JOHOR BARU: The Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Immigration Department has presented a special cake to their Singapore counterpart to usher in the new year.

The sweet treat was handed over to Singapore’s Woodlands Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) by BSI Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex’s deputy Immigration head R. Vimala on Wednesday (Jan 1).

Photos of the occasion were posted on the BSI Immigration office’s Facebook page.

“It was a reciprocal gesture to our counterparts who had earlier also presented us with a cake on New Year’s Eve.

“We thank them for their gesture and hope that this practice will be carried on as a symbol of goodwill between border authorities,” the post read.

It has been standard practice for both authorities to present cakes to each other to mark special occasions.

In the past, they have presented specially-crafted cakes to commemorate National Days.

On June 28 last year, the BSI Immigration gave a cake to the Woodlands ICA in conjunction with the Causeway’s 100th anniversary.
