Perlis declares Jan 1 a public holiday

PETALING JAYA: The Perlis government has declared Jan 1, 2025, as a public holiday in conjunction with the 2025 New Year celebration and the blessed date of Rejab 1, 1446H, says Mohd Shukri Ramli.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday (Dec 31), the state Mentri Besar said that Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail had consented to the declaration.

"The public holiday is a form of appreciation for all civil servants and the people of Perlis, who made the 2025 New Year celebration carnival held on Tuesday, a success.

"It is hoped that this announcement will facilitate the arrangements of all citizens to participate in this carnival and to plan accordingly," he added.

Mohd Shukri also said that the declaration was in line with the Holidays Act 1951.
