Storm warning: Heavy rain, thunderstorms expected over eight states until 6pm


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected over eight states until 6pm on Thursday (Dec 12).

In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department at 3.10pm Thursday, the areas affected include Perak (Batang Padang and Muallim), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub and Temerloh), Selangor (Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor), Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Jempol and Tampin), Melaka, and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi).

In Sarawak, the affected areas are Serian (Serian), Samarahan (Simunjan), Sri Aman, Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah (Matu, Dalat and Mukah), Kapit (Kapit and Belaga), Bintulu, Miri and Limbang while in Sabah, the alert has been issued for Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan and Keningau) and West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran).

Malaysia is currently experiencing the Northeast Monsoon.
