Rare albino python caught during morning crawl in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: A 4.26m (14ft) rare albino python was caught by Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel near the Jalan Macalister traffic lights here during morning rush hour on Tuesday (Dec 10).

North-East District APM operations officer Capt Muhammad Aizat Abd Ghani said the department received a distress call from a construction site supervisor at around 8am.

"He told us the snake was at the construction site," he said when contacted.

Capt Muhammad Aizat said three APM personnel were sent to the location to capture the snake.

He said their task was difficult at first as the python slithered into a hole beside the road, but they managed to catch it with the help of workers from the nearby construction site.

The operation ended at 8.40am, he added.
