Barisan will not stop fighting for Najib’s freedom, says Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been on the agenda at every supreme council meeting and is never forgotten, said Barisan Nasional chairman and Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“Bossku (Najib) has always been on the agenda in every Umno and Barisan supreme council meeting.

We have our hurdles to overcome, but we will not stop fighting for Bossku,” said the Deputy Prime Minister to about 5,000 Barisan component party delegates at the coalition's golden jubilee event on Saturday (Dec 7) at the World Trade Centre here.

“There are things we can share with everyone and some we cannot share here, but none of us in Barisan ever agreed to his imprisonment.

“I am sure that the time will come when Bossku will be released from prison,” said Ahmad Zahid.

Najib’s son, Datuk Mohd Nizar, who was seated with the crowd, said that he was touched by the support shown to his father by Barisan.

“I appreciate the solidarity shown for him (Najib). I hope he will get a fair trial, that is the most important thing. I am confident that he is in the right, and I hope he will be released sooner rather than later,” said Nizar.

The former prime minister and Barisan chairman Najib, 70, who is often referred to as “Bossku” by his followers, had been serving his sentence in Kajang Prison since Aug 23, 2022, after his conviction in the SRC International case.

The former Pekan MP also faces trials over the alleged RM2.28bil 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) graft case.
