Award-winning violinist sets tone for Wanita Barisan's golden jubilee

KUALA LUMPUR: Multi award-winning violinist Jessica Loo set the mood for the 50th anniversary of Wanita Barisan Nasional.

As Loo took to the stage to play a medley of patriotic and popular pop songs, the women from the Barisan component parties clapped and cheered.

The early Saturday (Dec 7) morning in the World Trade Centre Hall turned into a small concert as the initially shy women warmed up to Loo's motivational music and danced along.

"I did not expect this kind of reception. When I went to the floor, so many wanted to take photos that it was difficult to play, but I tried my best to focus.

"I was not told what songs to play and I decided on motivational songs which would put your mood up, make you happy.

"Also, as the event is a Malaysian one, I decided to incorporate popular Malaysian songs such as Saya Anak Malaysia," said Loo, who was asked to play at the event by the organisers.

Loo, 43, is a multi award-winning violin artiste who entered the Malaysia Book of Records as the first violinist to play the violin while paragliding.

The various Wanita wings of the Barisan component parties—Umno, MCA, MIC, and PBRS—said Loo's performance was an excellent starter for the convention.

Barisan is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
