Kluang woman found stabbed to death, son arrested


KLUANG: A man who allegedly killed his mother with a knife has been arrested by the police here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said police received a report about a woman, in her 50s, who was found unconscious at Felda Air Hitam, Sri Lalang here at 10.45am on Wednesday (Dec 4).

"About 15 minutes later, we arrested the victim's son at the same location. The suspect, who is in his 20s, does not possess any prior criminal record and tested negative for drugs.

"There were stab wounds on the victim's back and we also found a knife belonging to the suspect," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

The victim was sent to Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom where she was pronounced dead, he added.

ACP Bahrin added that a remand order for the suspect would be obtained from the Kluang court on Thursday (Dec 5).

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries a death penalty or life imprisonment of 30 to 40 years, with at least 12 strokes of the cane if convicted.
