Floods: 507 people evacuated in Segamat, Tangkak


JOHOR BARU: A total of 507 people from 152 families in Segamat and Tangkak have been evacuated from their houses and relocated to temporary flood relief centres (PPS).

The Johor disaster management committee said as of 8pm on Saturday (Nov 30), there are 12 centres in operation in the two flood-affected districts.

"There are 311 flood victims from 98 families in Tangkak, while there are 196 victims from 54 families in Segamat.

"As of 8pm, we have opened three flood relief centres in Tangkak and nine in Segamat," the committee said in a statement.

Four villages, namely Kampung Sri Maamor, Kampung Sialang, Kampung Pulau Penarik and Kampung Sabak Sena in Tangkak, are showing an increasing trend of flood victims.
