Sad but part of the job, says dropped Perlis exco member

KANGAR: While expressing feelings of disappointment and sadness, Tambun Tulang state assemblyman Wan Zikri Afthar Ishak said “but as a leader one must be magnanimous.”

Wan Zikri Afthar was among two leaders dropped from the state executive council.

"I would be lying if I am not sad and disappointed after a year working hard but as a politician and a leader, we must have a bigger heart.

"I will continue to serve in bringing the voice of the people, and this is also a blessing that allows me to focus 100% for the Tambun Tulang state constituency," he said.

He also congratulated all executive council members who kept their positions in the council including Kuala Perlis state assemblyman Abu Bakar Hamzah who was appointed as senior exco holding Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Rural Development portfolio and Sena state assemblyman Datin Marzita Mansor as Welfare, Health and Entrepreneurship portfolios.

"I also congratulate Guar Sanji state assemblyman Mohd Ridzuan Hashim, who has been appointed as the executive councillor for Youth and Sports, which is the main portfolio I previously held," he said.

Wan Zikri Afthar also hopes that the newly appointed councillor can continue the agenda that has been planned and is currently underway.

Sinar Harian previously reported that Wan Zikri Afthar was among two state assemblymen from Bersatu who were dropped from their positions as Perlis state government executive councillors members on Monday.

The other is state assemblyman for Pauh, Megat Hashirat Hassan.
