MCA to host World Association Presidents’ Conference


KUALA LUMPUR: The public will get a glimpse of the development process of policies, strategies and trends in the coming fifth World Association Presidents’ Conference (WAPC).

Themed “Accelerating Trade Liberalisation and Promoting Economic Globalisation”, the multinational conference on Dec 2 will gather more than 700 leaders and entrepreneurs from around the world.

Both deputy prime ministers, several ministers and deputies, and state government leaders will also share exclusive insights on national policies and directions.

The conference will be brought outside of China for the first time and will be held at Wisma MCA, the MCA Publicity Bureau said in a statement yesterday.

Besides Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, others expected to attend the conference include Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz; Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang.

The event will comprise four main segments: the main forum, business-matchmaking sessions, closed-door roundtable for world Presidents and CEOs, and a gala dinner to mark the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic ties.The speakers will cover a range of topics, including technology, innovation, investment, trade, tourism, Malaysia-China relations, and policies of both federal and state governments.

The conference aims to foster international cooperation and promote the integration and development of the global economy, the bureau added.

It said through in-depth discussions, participants would gain a comprehensive understanding of the nation’s development policies, strategies and trends.

The landmark international event is expected to be a pivotal keystone for Malaysia as it aims to deepen diplomatic relations and foster long-term economic ties with China, it said.

The conference will be jointly held by MCA, the Malaysia-China Friendship Association and the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce.
