KUALA LUMPUR: A sombre atmosphere fills the air as the funeral prayers for Tun Daim Zainuddin are held at Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan in Jalan Duta on Wednesday (Nov 13).
Daim’s wife, Toh Puan Naimah Khalid, was visibly distraught as she followed the casket into the mosque and could not hold back tears when embraced by loved ones.
The funeral cortège arrived at about 4pm on Wednesday, and loved ones joined in the prayers here.

Daim breathed his last at 8.21am on Wednesday while receiving treatment at Assunta Hospital in Petaling Jaya. He was 86.
Daim, whose real name is Che Abdul Daim Zainuddin, served as Finance Minister from 1984 to 1991 and held the position again from 1999 to 2001.
Daim will be laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery here later.
