Ruckus in the House as DAP MP challenges Pendang rep to 'be a real man' and apologise

KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat saw a heated moment when RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) challenged Pendang MP Datuk Awang Hashim to be a “real man” and apologise for his remarks on a former human resources minister.

Rayer said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had denied the Perikatan Nasional MP’s claims that RM94mil was found in the DAP leader's home.

“I am still of the view that one should own up if they are brave to make such remarks.

"If Pendang is an 'anak jantan (real man)', I challenge him to stand up and apologise now or repeat the statement outside of the House,” he said.

Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor then reminded the House to observe decorum.

Ramli then said while he had the power to make a decision on the matter, he would leave the matter to Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul to decide before resuming proceedings.

As soon as Ramli tried to proceed with the proceedings, Chong Zhemin(PH-Kampar) stood up and said that he had received a response on a motion that he had filed previously against Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu) on passing expletives referring to genitalia and Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden (PN-Alor Setar) for his “bukan mamak pasembor” remarks.

“I received a response that they had until Oct 29 to retract their statements. I would like to get guidance from the House whether action will be taken against them,” he said.

Ramli then said he had received a note that the matter is still under the Speaker’s consideration.

On Monday (Nov 4), during his debate on the Supply Bill 2025, Awang claimed that RM94mil was found at a DAP leader’s home.
