According to news reports, Chang, 24 was earlier charged under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, which is punishable by up to one year’s imprisonment, a maximum fine of RM50,000, or both upon conviction.

The influencer, arrived for her hearing accompanied by her fellow “influencer” sister Alice Chang.

She also asked for her phone to be returned, but was instead told she needed to file a formal application through her lawyer.

It was reported earlier that the hearing was disrupted due to Chang’s inability to follow the court proceedings in Malay, despite indicating to her lawyer Muhammad Rhastdan Abdul Wahab that she understood the national language.
