Suspects in Perak teen gang rape case arrested

IPOH: Police have apprehended five men for allegedly taking turns to rape a 15-year-old girl in Batu Gajah.

The suspects are aged from 18 to 27 years old.

Perak deputy police chief Deputy Comm Zulkafli Sariaat said the victim’s mother lodged a report on Monday (Oct 21) stating that her daughter had yet to return home from school.

DCP Zulkafli however said the daughter had actually gone to meet her boyfriend before they met up with another person.

“The victim then went out to eat with the new acquaintance, who then invited her to follow him to a hostel in Batu Gajah.

“When she reached the hostel, she saw five other men there, and she was told to enter an empty room to rest.

“The five men then took turns to go into the room to rape the girl,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 23)

DCP Zulkafli said on Tuesday (Oct 22), police managed to trace the victim at the hostel, and brought her to the Batu Gajah police district headquarters for questioning.

The victim told the police she was raped by the five men at the hostel on Monday (Oct 21) at about 10.22pm.

“Based on the information, the Batu Gajah criminal investigation department arrested the five for further investigations.

“Two of the suspects, aged 27, have prior criminal and drug-related offences.

“The suspects have been remanded until Oct 28, and the case is being investigated under Section 375B of the Penal Code.
