Digital road tax to stay, says Loke

JOHOR BARU: There is no need to review the digital road tax policy, says Anthony Loke.

The Transport Minister said the country has to be progressive in its policies and once the road tax has gone digital, there was no turning back.

“There will be no more reviews. The digital road tax will be maintained.

“If people want to drive overseas, for example to Thailand which may require your physical road tax, just print it out. It should not be an issue,” he said after officiating the 22nd Asean Ports and Logistics Exhibition and Conference at a hotel here on Wednesday (Oct 23).

Loke was asked whether the government would review the digital road tax policy after implementing it last year.

Some motorists have voiced out on social media about the authorities in southern Thailand requiring them to produce a physical copy of their road tax when driving across the border.

The motorists also called for the government to bring back the issuance of physical road tax.
