Negri polls: Anthony Loke may give up Negri DAP chief post after defeat in Chennah

PETALING JAYA: Anthony Loke may relinquish his position as Negri Sembilan DAP state chief after his defeat in Chennah in Saturday’s (Aug 1) state polls.

“We have tried our best to defend this seat. It was never easy from the very beginning,” he added.

Loke added that he would rethink his role in the party.

“Yes, I am considering, of course, to relinquish my position in Negri Sembilan DAP… my state chairman post,” he said while adding that he would consult other party leaders before making a decision.

Before I make a decision, as far as my role as the DAP secretary-general, of course I will discuss further with the DAP central executive committee on our way forward,” he added.

The DAP secretary-general and Transport Minister conceded the Chennah seat to Barisan Nasional and MCA’s Siow Kong Choon (John).

According to unofficial results, Siow won the seat with 500 votes after registering 5,593 votes while Loke trailed with 5,060 votes.
